Writer agent + separate checker agent for factual content: is claim extraction worth the extra cost?

I'm building Noema. It turns any topic into a short interactive lesson using a team of agents. Right now one lesson costs about $0.13 and takes ~2 min. The weak spot is facts. The writer sounds confident even when it's wrong, and asking the same model to review itself mostly gets "looks good".
