Looking for a free or open-source LLM API to practice RAG and Generative AI

Hey everyone! I'm currently learning Gen AI and RAG, and I want to start building some real projects to apply what I'm learning. I'm looking for a free LLM API with an API key, or an open-source model that I can use for learning and experimentation. Unfortunately, I have a limited budget, so paid APIs aren't a good option for me right now.
