We tested Jev as a reranker against Voyage, Cohere and Qwen on 1,000 eval cases. It came within 0.003 of first place (!!)

We run millions of retrieval queries a month at kapa.ai (YC S23) - all of them go through a reranker in some way, so picking the right one matters a lot to us. Erik Kaunismäki from turbopuffer recently showed TypeSafe AI's Jev beating dedicated rerankers on their benchmark. Not everyone has found the same: DevX Labs found it the fastest and cheapest, but only twelfth on accuracy. So we wanted to see what held in our domain, which is complex real-world company knowledge.
